Orhan Pamukwas awarded an honorary doctorate in honor of artistic creation by the University of Paris Nanterre on Wednesday, May 10.
for the author i My Name Is Red (1998) Professor of Modern Art History, Thierry Dufrene, who also gave a speech at the ceremony, where part of his novel was read. Museum of Innocence (2008) praised his novel and artistic creativity. Orhan Pamuk later attended an event where he discussed his works with professors specializing in art history and museology.
Every week during May, Orhan Pamuk will hold a lecture on the art of the novel at the College de France in Paris. The general title of his series of speeches, the first of which he gave on Tuesday, May 9, is “The Paradox of Romanism”.

Beginnings, the novelist’s paradox, creating and following a character, creativity and control.
Pamuk will be published as a book next year by Yapı Kredi Publications, and public speeches will be in English.
Honorary doctorate from Romania to Orhan Pamuk
Orhan Pamuk was also awarded an honorary doctorate last April from Western University in the historic city of Temeşvar, Romania.
Pamuk, who took part in a literary conversation held in Timișoara, which was chosen as the European Capital of Culture in 2021, gave a speech at the gathering moderated by journalist Radu Paraschivescu.
On the second day of the visit, Pamuk received an honorary doctorate from the rector of the UVT of the Western University in Timisoara, Marilen Pirtea.
